The Epic Balancing Act: Juggling Work, Businesses, Modelling, Sanity…

Hey, fellow readers! Apologies for the neglect. It's been a while since I put fingertips to keyboard to update you on my modelling adventures (which have been zero by the way). I must admit, it's been quite the circus - you knew I wouldn’t want to disappoint. You’re welcome.

Life has been a whirlwind of multitasking (which we all know I can’t do - see 'Who am I really?'), endless to-do lists, and trying to keep my sanity intact. So, grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and get brought up to speed with my lack of modelling, while juggling work and businesses (aka the Althie juggling act).

Let's start with my attempts to strike the perfect pose for my model portfolio . We all know that we need to take time out for our wants and needs right? So how am I going to even bag a shoot when I’m not even available to go to it?!

Imagine practicing your signature "smoldering eyes" look in front of the mirror (as you do), and a travel client calls to discuss an urgent quote. My multitasking just about extends beyond blinking and breathing - maybe walking too. So picture me clad in a fluffy bathrobe, one eye smoldering, the other frantically searching for a pen and paper and trying to keep the convo going. Needless to say, my client was a tad confused.

But wait, there's more! In the midst of my chaotic schedule (and a whole day job), I decided to launch not one, but two businesses simultaneously. Because, you know, who needs sleep anyway? The thrill of entrepreneurship and the glamour of modelling collided in an explosion of travel and ForEx chaos. Did I mention powerlifting yet? And this woman of God needs to give Him His daily time.

So yeah! I had to pause on a few things for a little while.

So what have I been focussing on...?

I've been quietly diving headfirst into the aromatic world of candle making and starting my own candle business. And let me tell you, that alone has been quite the journey!

Now, picture this: me, surrounded by mountains of wax, an array of fragrance oils, and a bunch of wicks, looking like a mad scientist in the midst of a delightful experiment. Honestly, I might as well have been wearing a lab coat and goggles. It's been equal parts hilarious and chaotic, but hey, who doesn't love a good adventure?

When I embarked on this candlepreneurial endeavor, I had no clue what I was getting myself into. Sure, I had a burning passion for candles (pun intended) since I was young, but turning that passion into a full-fledged business was a whole new ballgame. And trust me, there were some moments where I wondered if I was playing with fire, both literally and metaphorically, especially given Althie Lifestyle actually started up as a result of a conversation between me and my bro-cous.

Don’t act like you don’t know what a bro-cous is - we all have one of them. Or five...

First things first, I had to come up with a name for my candle brand. I wanted something “me”. After hours of brainstorming, I finally settled on "Althie Lifestyle" - as you know i’m not looking to stop at candles so might as well cover everything.

Sourcing the materials was an adventure in itself. I found myself lost in a labyrinth of online candle suppliers, trying to decipher the difference between paraffin wax, soy wax, and beeswax. And don't even get me started on the fragrance oils - I'd end up sniffing so many scents that my nose would stage a revolt!

But the real hilarity began when I started experimenting with different candle scents. Forget what they told you - not all fragrance combinations are created equal. Some smelled like a meadow of blooming flowers, while others made me question my life choices.

Of course, there were also the "oops" moments. Like the time I accidentally spilled a setting candle all over the counter. Luckily I no longer swear otherwise you would have heard me wherever in the world you are.

But despite the inevitable mishaps and occasional wax-related chaos, I must say that starting this candle business has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. There's something truly magical about creating a product that not only brings joy to people's lives but also fills their homes with delightful scents. It's like sticking happiness in a jar and sharing it with the world.

So, if you're wondering why I've been quiet lately, now you know the story. I've been knee-deep in candle molds and fragrance oils, perfecting the art of creating scented wonders. And let me tell you, it's been a journey filled with laughter, surprises, and a whole lot of wax.

In the midst of it all, though, I've learned a thing or two. Life is unpredictable, and while I may not have mastered the art of juggling multiple roles flawlessly, I've come to appreciate the beauty in imperfection. Laughter truly is the best medicine when things go awry, and embracing the unexpected can lead to memorable experiences and lifelong stories.

So, here's to all the multitaskers, the dreamers, and the accidental comedians out there. May your journey be filled with hilarious mishaps, inspiring triumphs, and the courage to keep chasing your dreams, no matter how many balls you have in the air.

Signing off for now, but I’ll keep you updated on all the trials, triumphs, and waxy mishaps along the way (and will also update you on the reed diffusers, and perfumes I have been experimenting with). So stay tuned for more slapstick adventures from the world of a model-entrepreneur-extraordinaire. Remember, life is too short not to laugh at yourself!

Until next time,
